The full crew of Dune Talk are back for this week’s show and we have several key movie, TV series, and gaming stories to discuss. Production is well underway on Dune: Part Two—with the cast making their presence known in Budapest—however there’s still months of filming ahead, including in the desert. While we look forward to that second movie in 2023, what does the recent Warner Bros. Discovery and Legendary Entertainment news mean for franchise’s future?
There’s also been some recent uncertainty on the TV series front. Fortunately we have some, reassuring, updates regarding Dune: The Sisterhood. And finally, we have Funcom’s announcement of Dune: Awakening and its cinematic trailer. Garin, Johnny, Marcus, and Simon each have different expectations for this upcoming open world MMO game.

Show Notes
- Dune: Part Two has completed six weeks of production in Hungary and filming, with the main cast, is expected to continue there through to early October. Shooting in the desert, including five weeks in Abu Dhabi, will take place later this fall.
- Legendary Entertainment is exploring partnerships with other studios, as its agreement to create movies with Warner Bros. has recently expired. Sony and Paramount are both in contention, however a new deal with Warner Bros. is not out of the question.
- Dune: The Sisterhood is continuing to move forward, post Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Production Weekly has reported that the TV series will be filmed in Ireland—confirming earlier rumors—as well as in Hungary, where the movies were produced.
- Funcom announced Dune: Awakening, their upcoming open world survival MMO set on Arrakis. It will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The video game’s cinematic trailer sports a look and feel that’s consistent with Denis Villeneuve’s movies.
