About Dune: Part Two

A Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures production, Dune: Part Two (2024) completes a two-part film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s bestselling science fiction novel Dune (1965). The movie is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049), who wrote the screenplay together with Jon Spaihts and also served as a producer—together with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick.

The movie’s official synopsis reads as follows:

Dune: Part Two explores the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Dune: Part Two features a star-studded ensemble cast—boasting multiple past Oscar nominees (and two winners)—that includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

The movie’s creative team is a veritable who’s who of recent Oscar winners, including director of photography Greig Fraser, production designer Patrice Vermette, editor Joe Walker, visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert, and composer Hans Zimmer.  Oscar nominee Jacqueline West returned as the movie’s costume designer.

Executive producers of Dune: Part Two are Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert. Kevin J. Anderson served as creative consultant.
