The HBO Original drama series Dune: Prophecy, co-produced with Legendary Television, has been renewed for a second season. This announcement comes ahead of its season one finale, debuting on Sunday, December 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Both studios have shared their comments regarding the TV show’s continuation:

The six-episode first season of Dune: Prophecy has received generally positive reviews from a range of mainstream media outlets. For example, it was deemed a “deliciously epic showstopper” (Mashable) with “thrilling, masterful performances” (Entertainment Weekly). The TV series was also hailed as “bold, stellar sci-fi” (TheWrap), being described as “emotionally rich” (Paste) and “visually grand” (The Wall Street Journal). Collider declared it “incredibly cinematic” and said “Emily Watson and Olivia Williams are absolute powerhouses.”
