‘Dune: Prophecy’ Official Trailer Debuts at NYCC

'Dune' prequel TV series sets streaming premiere date.

In exactly one month, a brand-new Dune story arrives on the small screen! HBO’s Dune: Prophecy TV series will begin streaming November 17, 2024 on MAX. The six-episode season will have a weekly release schedule, with a new episode premiering on subsequent Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

These details were revealed on the opening day of New York Comic Con 2024, together with the Dune: Prophecy Official Series Trailer. Clocking in at close to three minutes, this all-new footage offers an alluring look at key figures and varied locations that will feature in this long-awaited TV production.

Dune: Prophecy takes place 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel and its recent two-part film adaptation by Denis Villeneuve. The TV series—which seems to draw visual parallels with those Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two movies—will focus on the early days of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, as they seek influence over the future of the Imperium. Inspired by the Great Schools of Dune prequel novel trilogy, by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, Dune: Prophecy will tell an entirely original tale.

The cast of Dune: Prophecy includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, and Jessica Barden. Alison Schapker is the showrunner and confirmed directors include Anna Foerster (three episodes), John Cameron, and Richard J. Lewis.
